Easy. This word, to me, perfectly encapsulates what it is to live in the City of Westminster. Just easy. Waking up early in the morning is Easy when you are waking up to perfect stillness, and inundating beauty. When you’ve been living here forever the little things don’t mean much to you anymore. They blend into your norm, a simple expectation of what life should be rather than a blessing that exists in your life. But to someone who has moved here recently, specifically from a place where the bare necessities were considered luxuries, you find beauty in everything you encounter, every little detail that makes life easier for you. Waking up here means waking up with no anxieties around lack of electricity, gas, or hot water. It means all of these existing organically, Easily. It means spending the time that you would use to cater to these issues, to enjoy yourself, to cultivate your mind, to do anything that you couldn’t do before. Because guess what, learning here is Easy, having access to educational resources is Easy. But beyond the simple functions of your home, it is so easy to enjoy what you see when you’re stepping outside to the sight of delicacies that so naturally exist. Not tall skyscrapers or fabricated fountains and exhibitions, but just the abundance of greenery, every little boutique that holds its special touch. Being cozied up in layers of clothes walking through the city brings a certain tranquility to your mind whether you consciously recognize it or not. Having the luxury to be able to stroll through wide, clean streets makes living in your mind Easy. When your thoughts become uncluttered, navigating through them becomes Easy, so you can focus your attention on nourishing activities Easily. Leading a productive and happy life in an environment that facilitates it for you is made Easy. Look around, to the woman helping a newcomer find their way to the nearest bus stop, to the restaurant owner welcoming pedestrians inside when it started raining, to the abundance of genuine kindness around you. Living here feels like experiencing a continuous warm hug, and how Easy is that? I could talk about the infinity of attractions that this city holds but what really makes a city is its people. Being somewhere where everyone is so liberated, so different, makes it Easy to feel comfortable to be exactly what you want to be , with no restrictions. So that is why when anybody asks me about living in the city of Westminster my first response is that it is Easy. If you just take the time to notice the little things that make your day easier you might realize how the tools to get everything you want are right in front of you. You just have to notice how Easy it is to utilize them.
